Reviewed May 25, 2003.
Kingfisher, Boston, 2003.  64 pages.
Available at Sembach Library (J 636.1 RAN).

When I was a kid who loved to read horse stories, I would have been enraptured with this book.  As it is, I found it fascinating.  Horse & Pony Breeds explains the differences between breeds and types of horses and gives examples of more than 40 different kinds.  Clear, beautiful photographs illustrate each breed, and distinguishing characteristics are pointed out.  The names of different colors of horses are given, as well as the names for different types of markings.  All are clearly illustrated with photographs.  A wonderful book for any child or adult interested in horses.
