***Into the VolcanoA Volcano Researcher at Workby Donna O'MearaReviewed October 6, 2005.
Kids Can Press, Tonawanda, New York, 2005. 56 pages. Available at Sembach Library (J MCN 551.21 OME). In a story liberally illustrated with dramatic photographs, Donna O’Meara tells how she got interested in researching volcanoes and some of the adventures she’s had along the way. She tells about specific volcanoes and what she experienced at each one. As the story progresses, readers learn about types of volcanoes and types of lava and types of eruptions. They also hear about why volcano research is important but risky. I’m not sure I want my kids to read this book. They might be intrigued enough to want to become volcano researchers! I found the book fascinating, but telling of all the dangers did not motivate me to want to go near volcanoes myself! Copyright © 2005 Sondra Eklund. All
