***We Are the Manyby Doreen RappaportIllustrated by Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa WuHarperCollins Publishers, New York, 2002. 32 pages. Available at Sembach Library (J 920 RAP) We Are the Many is a beautiful picture book, telling stories from the lives of 13 Native Americans. The time frames range from Tisquantum (Squanto), who helped the Pilgrims, to Sherman Alexie, a present-day author. The author chose a single incident from each person’s life and presents it on one page, with a beautiful painting on the facing page. You will be amazed at the wide range of people represented. This is a wonderful introduction to the topic. Related Reviews: Helen's Big World To Dare Mighty Things Frederick's Journey Elizabeth Started All the Trouble
