I don't review books I don't like!

I’m working on a long-term project at the library, trying to get our computerized catalog to match the old card-based shelflist. Since the cards were scanned three years before we finally got the computer system, it’s off by thousands of items. Anyway, the past few weeks, I’ve been working among the art books, so I’ve found some beautiful books to bring home and browse through. This is one of them. This particular book is found among our “oversize” books, located right next to the copy machine in the main big room. I want to add that most libraries probably have a nice collection of art and photography books, as well as oversize books. Before I worked there, I thought mostly of going to libraries for stories or information. Let me also suggest grabbing a beautiful art book and enjoying a half-hour interlude with magnificent paintings or photographs. This particular book on France is magnificent. There’s a short text in the beginning, but most of the book consists of stunning images from all over France. The photography is outstanding, and from locations all over France. I recommend it as a way to tour France from the comfort of your own home. For me, it gave me fond smiles of familiar scenes, and fed my desire to see more.Copyright © 2003 Sondra Eklund.
