by Paul Reiser

Reviewed February 5, 2005.
Rob Weisbach Books (William Morrow and Company), New York, 1997.  205 pages.
Available at Sembach Library (818 REI).

If you’ve ever watched Mad About You, you’ll find it easy to hear this book as if in Paul Reiser’s voice.  He tells the story of parenthood, from thinking about it to having a baby on his hands.  He fills his remembrances with lots of warmth and lots of humor.

People who are fans of Mad About You will get a laugh out of this book, and so will any parent.  Paul Reiser looks at the challenges of child-rearing in ways I’d never quite looked at them before.

“We all just change positions; we start as the Ones Who Get Pushed, and we become the Ones Who Push.  The only thing that stays the same is the swing.”
