***All You Really Need to Know About Prayer You Can Learn from the Poorby Louise Perrotta
Reviewed April 22, 2005.
Charis Books, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1996. 182 pages. Available at Sembach Library (277.29 PER). I discovered this inspiring little book when someone returned it to the library. All You Really Need to Know About Prayer You Can Learn From the Poor introduces us to people from the Caribbean who are poor in worldly wealth but rich in faith. Every person in this book would be considered to be worse off than me by someone looking at mere appearances. But they tell inspiring stories of trust in God and amazing stories of God’s provision. I approached this book by reading one story per day, for a little dose of inspiration in the morning and a well-needed reminder that God is a God of love, and I can trust Him. One person was struck down by leprosy, but manages to praise God. Another prays each day that God will show her a way to feed her children. A young boy prayed for shoes so he could go to school. The faith demonstrated in these stories and prayers is a reminder that God loves His children and we can turn to Him in any trouble. An inspiring book. Copyright © 2005 Sondra Eklund. All
