*****The Adventures of CowThe Amazing Exploits of a Huggable Holsteinby Cowas told to Lori Korcheckphotographed by Marshall Taylor Reviewed October 31, 2005.
Tricycle Press, Berkeley, 2005. 28 pages. Available at Sembach Library (E KOR). Sonderbooks Stand-out 2005 (#4, Picture Books) When this book came into the library, I showed it to everyone around, and they in turn showed it to more people. When I brought it home, I told my kids, “Look! Our cow wrote a book!” The Adventures of Cow features a small, squishy foam cow, exactly the same as the ones given away by our local commissary several months ago, so almost everyone in our neighborhood has one. This gave us special fondness for Cow’s story. This book features photographs of Cow as she gets lost in a strange place (a farm) and tries to find her way home. She asks help from all the farm animals. Kids will find hilarious how she consistently identifies the animals incorrectly. The story is told matter-of-factly and simply. Combined with the pictures of the little foam cow, it comes out supremely silly and utterly hilarious. I can’t really express the delights of this book with a description. You need to read this book yourself! Copyright © 2005 Sondra Eklund. All
