Today I&#8217;m going to list ten books I love for approximately ages 4-5.  (I&#8217;m putting overlap in the ages for these lists to be able to include more!)<\/p>\n<p>Last week I learned that I was not the first one to think of the Top Ten Tuesday meme, so after my list of Sondy&#8217;s Selections for ages 4-5, I&#8217;ll include a list for this week&#8217;s Top Ten Tuesday at <a href=\"http:\/\/brokeandbookish.blogspot.com\/\">The Broke and the Bookish<\/a> &#8212; books that make me cry.<\/p>\n<p>The titles I&#8217;ve reviewed will link to the review, and the others will link to Amazon.  Next week&#8217;s list will be books for beginning readers.  Be thinking of your favorites!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Sondys_Selections.html\">Sondy&#8217;s Selections<\/a>, Ages 4-5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Picture_Books\/timothy_and_the_strong_pajamas.html\">Timothy and the Strong Pajamas,<\/a><\/em> by Viviane Schwarz<\/strong><br \/>\nTimothy Smallbeast\u2019s favorite pajamas wear out, but his mother mends them into Super Strong Pajamas.  After a day helping others with his Super Strength, his new friends come to his aid when he needs them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/PictureBooks\/threelittlewolves.html\">The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig,<\/a><\/em> by Eugene Trivizias, illustrated by Helen Oxenbury<\/strong><br \/>\nThree sweet little wolves are up against a pig who \u201cisn\u2019t called big and bad for nothing.\u201d When blowing down their houses doesn\u2019t work, the pig starts in with a sledgehammer.  This hilarious twist on the traditional tale will have everyone laughing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Picture_Books\/visitor_for_bear.html\">A Visitor for Bear,<\/a><\/em> by Bonny Becker, illustrated by Kady MacDonald Denton<\/strong><br \/>\nBear does NOT allow visitors.  But a persistent mouse quickly has readers wondering where he will pop up next.  Despite Bear\u2019s best efforts, the mouse shows Bear that some things are better with friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/PictureBooks\/sylvester.html\">Sylvester and the Magic Pebble,<\/a><\/em> by William Steig<\/strong><br \/>\nIn this Caldecott Medal-winning book, Sylvester the donkey finds a magic pebble and rashly wishes to be a rock when attacked by a lion.  But how can a rock reach the pebble to wish himself back?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/PictureBooks\/officerbuckle.html\">Officer Buckle and Gloria,<\/a><\/em> by Peggy Rathman<\/strong><br \/>\nOfficer Buckle is sure that his safety demonstrations are a hit with kids.  He doesn\u2019t realize that his dog Gloria is acting out all the accidents behind his back.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Picture_Books\/millie_waits_for_the_mail.html\">Millie Waits for the Mail,<\/a><\/em> by Alexander Steffensmeier<\/strong><br \/>\nEveryone who sees this book will enjoy the silly situations as Millie the cow waits for the mail \u2013 so she can scare the mail carrier out of his wits.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/PictureBooks\/clevercat.html\">Clever Cat<\/a>,<\/em> by Peter Collington<\/strong><br \/>\nA cat learns that being too clever can backfire.  Maybe not a great message, but very funny.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/PictureBooks\/dot.html\">The Dot,<\/a><\/em> by Peter H. Reynolds<\/strong><br \/>\nHere\u2019s a beautiful little book about making your mark and not judging yourself by other people\u2019s standards.  Kids who read this will never dare to say they\u2019re \u201cnot good at art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0723258732\/sonderbooksco-20\">The Tale of Peter Rabbit<\/a>,<\/em> by Beatrix Potter<\/strong><br \/>\nThe classic tale of a naughty rabbit outwitting Mr. MacGregor is still as pleasing as ever.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/039480077X\/sonderbooksco-20\">Horton Hatches the Egg,<\/a><\/em> by Dr. Seuss<\/strong><br \/>\nA faithful elephant tends a nest because he meant what he said, and he said what he meant.<\/p>\n<p>And now, a special bonus list in honor of the Top Ten Tuesday at <a href=\"http:\/\/brokeandbookish.blogspot.com\/\">The Broke and the Bookish<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>This week their list topic is Books That Make You Cry.<\/p>\n<p>Now, when I was a teen, a book had to make me cry to be counted one of my favorites.  But it was hard to remember which ones those were.
