{"id":183,"date":"2008-08-27T22:50:11","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T02:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/2008\/08\/27\/review-of-breaking-dawn-by-stephenie-meyer\/"},"modified":"2008-10-11T22:39:40","modified_gmt":"2008-10-12T02:39:40","slug":"review-of-breaking-dawn-by-stephenie-meyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/?p=183","title":{"rendered":"Review of Breaking Dawn, by Stephenie Meyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image212\" height=\"202\" alt=\"breaking_dawn.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/breaking_dawn.jpg\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Breaking Dawn<\/em><\/p>\n<p>by Stephenie Meyer<\/p>\n<p>Megan Tingley Books (Little, Brown), 2008.\u00a0 756 pages.<\/p>\n<p>Starred Review<\/p>\n<p>I admit it:\u00a0 There is no need for a review of <em>Breaking Dawn.\u00a0 <\/em>You should NOT read it unless you have read the three books that come before it:\u00a0 <em>Twilight, New Moon, <\/em>and <em>Eclipse.\u00a0 <\/em>Once you&#8217;ve read <em>Twilight, <\/em>you will know if you want to keep reading.\u00a0 If you do, then nothing I can say will stop you!<\/p>\n<p>However, I can&#8217;t resist the opportunity to offer my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>I liked <em>Breaking Dawn.<\/em>\u00a0 I loved the way she pulled off a happy ending, almost too happy, but still leaving me smiling.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, she threw in a completely bizarre plot twist.\u00a0 But I did like the way so many vampires came together, and I like the way this time Bella provided an important contribution to the final conflict.<\/p>\n<p>There were a couple of places where I laughed aloud.\u00a0 The first was her description of Edward&#8217;s eyes on his wedding day.\u00a0 It was even more over the top than a spoof I had read before the book came out:\u00a0 &#8220;His eyes were a buttery, burning gold.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Come on, <em>buttery?!!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When I read the resolution of the love triangle, though, I laughed so loudly, I woke up my son, who was asleep on the other bed in the hotel room.\u00a0 Still, it did resolve things&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d better not say any more!<\/p>\n<p>These books may not be great literature, but they are absorbing reading, escapist romance, and a whole lot of fun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/031606792X\/sonderbooksco-20\" target=\"outside\"><font color=\"#0b76ae\">Buy from Amazon.com<\/font><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Find this review on the main site at:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Teens\/breaking_dawn.html\">www.sonderbooks.com\/Teens\/breaking_dawn.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer Megan Tingley Books (Little, Brown), 2008.\u00a0 756 pages.
