Here\u2019s a lovely book that goes through the seasons with poetry. Each poem\u2019s title is a calendar date. The book begins and ends with March 20 as the seasons go around.<\/p>\n

The poems have nice variety. Some rhyme and some don\u2019t. The styles and thoughts cover many different moods. The wonderful pictures make a lovely accompaniment. This is a meditative book and will help you notice the moments.<\/p>\n

A few examples:<\/p>\n

march 22<\/strong><\/p>\n

just like a tiny, blue hello
\na crocus blooming
\nin the snow<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

march 26<\/strong><\/p>\n

shivering and huddled close
\nthe forever rushing daffodils
\nwished they had waited<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

may 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

lilac sniffing
\nis what to do
\nwith a nose
\nwhen it is may
\nand there are lilacs
\nto be sniffed<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

june 15<\/strong><\/p>\n

you can taste the sunshine
\nand the buzzing
\nand the breeze
\nwhile eating berries off the bush
\non berry hands
\nand berry knees<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Okay, I should stop with Spring! These are only some of the shortest poems, and the book does go through all the seasons. (The \u201cWhen Green Becomes Tomatoes\u201d poem falls on July 10.)<\/p>\n

These are lovely. I like the simple child-voice, but with beauty that adults can appreciate.<\/p>\n
