This week, we&#8217;re back to the book that started it all, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonderbooks.com\/Teens\/order_of_odd_fish.html\">The Order of Odd-Fish<\/a><\/em>, by <a href=\"http:\/\/jameskennedy.com\/\">James Kennedy<\/a>, otherwise known as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/?cat=174\">Der Orden der Seltsamen Sonderlinge<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Sonderlinge3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Sonderlinge3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-36535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Sonderlinge3.jpg 400w, https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Sonderlinge3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sonderbooks.com\/blog\/?p=36114\">Last time<\/a>, we left off ready to begin Chapter Twenty-Five!  There are twenty-eight chapters in the book, so we have almost given tidbits from the entire book &#8212; without giving away the plot, I might add.  I hope I have merely tantalized my readers, while giving them handy phrases to use the next time they travel to Germany.  This first sentence, for example, could come in handy:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jo didn&#8217;t remember how she got back to the lodge.&#8221;<br \/>\n= <em>Jo konnte sich nicht daran erinnern, wie sie zum Logenhaus zur\u00fcckgekommen war.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;crumpled&#8221; = <em>zerknittert<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;boiled furiously&#8221; = <em>kochte brodelnd<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;twisting up her guts&#8221; = <em>verdrehte ihr die Ged\u00e4rme<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;exhausted&#8221; = <em>ersch\u00f6pft<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes the translator just had to draw out and explain the playful English:<br \/>\n&#8220;Her brain itched with needles and worms and fizzing sparks&#8221;<br \/>\n= <em>Nadeln schienen sie ins Hirn zu stechen, W\u00fcrmer wanden sich und Funken stoben<\/em><br \/>\n(&#8220;Needles seemed her in the brain to pierce, worms writhed and sparks flew&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;pleaded&#8221; = <em>angefleht<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;slosh around&#8221; = <em>herumschwappte<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;rattled and bounced&#8221; = <em>ratternd und schaukelnd<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;exciting&#8221; = <em>aufregend<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;enticing&#8221; = <em>verlockende<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;exuberant crowd&#8221; = <em>ausgelassene Menge<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;disinfectant&#8221; = <em>Desinfektionsmittel<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;opposite corner&#8221; = <em>gegen\u00fcberliegenden Ecke<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I <em>hope<\/em> you&#8217;ll never say this, but here it is if you need it:<br \/>\n&#8220;If you die, too bad.&#8221;<br \/>\n= <em>Wenn ihr sterbt, Pech gehabt.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Razzle-dazzle&#8221; = <em>Tamtam<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Deceit&#8221; = <em>Arglist<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;left big toe&#8221; = <em>linken dicken Zeh<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;thigh&#8221; = <em>Oberschenkel<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;show of respect&#8221; = <em>Respektbezeugungen<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;fondling&#8221; = <em>liebkoste<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all for tonight!
