Happy New Year!<\/p>\n
I’m thinking about a Theme for 2015 and verses for 2015, and I’m coming up with “Delight.”<\/p>\n
I want to especially remember to Delight in the Lord this year. But also remember that He’s said He delights in me.<\/p>\n
How amazing is that?<\/p>\n
My verses for 2015 were going to be Psalm 37:3-4 —<\/p>\n
Trust in the Lord and do good;
\ndwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
\nDelight yourself in the Lord
\nand he will give you the desires of your heart.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nBut after looking through all the verses I can find that use the word “Delight” (See below.), I think I will add Zephaniah 3:17 —<\/p>\n
The Lord your God is with you,
\nhe is mighty to save.
\nHe will take great delight in you,
\nhe will quiet you with his love,
\nhe will rejoice over you with singing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nUsing my handy-dandy Strong’s Concordance, I want to look at some other verses that use the word “delight.”<\/p>\n
I Samuel 15:22 —<\/p>\n
But Samuel replied:
\n“Does the Lord delight in burn offerings and sacrifices
\nas much as obeying the voice of the Lord?
\nTo obey is better than sacrifice,
\nand to heed is better than the fat of rams.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 1:1-3 —<\/p>\n
Blessed is the man
\nwho does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
\nor stand in the way of sinners
\nor sit in the seat of mockers.
\nBut his delight ins in the law of the Lord,
\nand on his law he meditates day and night.
\nHe is like a tree planted by streams of water,
\nwhich yields its fruit in season
\nand whose leaf does not wither.
\nWhatever he does prospers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 16:5-6 —<\/p>\n
Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup;
\nyou have made my lot secure.
\nThe boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
\nsurely I have a delightful inheritance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 18:19 —<\/p>\n
He brought me out into a spacious place;
\nhe rescued me because he delighted in me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 35:9 —<\/p>\n
Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord
\nand delight in his salvation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 35:27 —<\/p>\n
May those who delight in my vindication
\nshout for joy and gladness;
\nmay they always say, “The Lord be exalted,
\nwho delights in the well-being of his servant.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 37:23-24 —<\/p>\n
If the Lord delights in a man’s way,
\nhe makes his steps firm;
\nthough he stumble, he will not fall,
\nfor the Lord upholds him with his hand.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 43:3-4 —<\/p>\n
Send forth your light and your truth,
\nlet them guide me;
\nlet them bring me to your holy mountain,
\nto the place where you dwell.
\nThen will I go to the altar of God,
\nto God, my joy and my delight.
\nI will praise you with the harp,
\nO God, my God.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 51:16-17 —<\/p>\n
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
\nyou do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
\nThe sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
\na broken and contrite heart,
\nO God, you will not despise.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 112:1 —<\/p>\n
Praise the Lord.
\nBlessed is the man who fears the Lord,
\nwho finds great delight in his commands.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 119:16 —<\/p>\n
I delight in your decrees;
\nI will not neglect your word.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 119:24 —<\/p>\n
Your statutes are my delight;
\nthey are my counselors.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 119:35 —<\/p>\n
Direct me in the path of your commands,
\nfor there I find delight.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nPsalm 119:47 —<\/p>\n
for I delight in your commands

Let your compassion come to me that I may live,

If your law had not been my delight,

Trouble and distress have come upon me,

The Lord detests men of perverse heart
\nbut he delights in those whose ways are blameless.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nProverbs 12:22 —<\/p>\n
The Lord detests lying lips,
\nbut he delights in men who are truthful.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nIsaiah 61:10-11 —<\/p>\n
I delight greatly in the Lord;
\nmy soul rejoices in my God.
\nFor he has clothed me with garments of salvation
\nand arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
\nas a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
\nand as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
\nFor as the soil makes the sprout come up
\nand a garden causes seeds to grow,
\nso the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise
\nspring up before all nations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nIsaiah 62:4 —<\/p>\n
No longer will they call you Deserted,
\nor name your land Desolate.
\nBut you will be called Hephzibah,
\nand your land Beulah;
\nfor the Lord will take delight in you,
\nand your land will be married.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nJeremiah 9:23-24 —<\/p>\n
This is what the Lord says:
\n“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
\nor the strong man boast of his strength
\nor the rich man boast of his riches,
\nbut let him who boasts boast about this:
\nthat he understands and knows me,
\nthat I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
\njustice and righteousness on earth,
\nfor in these I delight,”
\ndeclares the Lord.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nJeremiah 15:16 —<\/p>\n
When your words came, I ate them;
\nthey were my joy and my heart’s delight,
\nfor I bear your name,
\nO Lord God Almighty.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nMicah 7:18-19 —<\/p>\n
Who is a God like you,
\nwho pardons sin and forgives the transgression
\nof the remnant of his inheritance?
\nYou do not stay angry forever
\nbut delight to show mercy.
\nYou will again have compassion on us;
\nyou will tread our sins underfoot
\nand hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nMalachi 3:12 —<\/p>\n
“Then all the nations will call you blessed,
\nfor yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nI Corinthians 13:6 — <\/p>\n
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
What will I delight in this year? <\/p>\n
And I hope to remember, through thick and thin, that the Lord delights in me.<\/p>\n
What will my Father sing over me this year?<\/p>\n
