Life is FULL of reasons for Joy!<\/em><\/p>\n

That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the motto I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve adopted for my life as a single Mom and a career woman.\u00c2\u00a0 Indeed, 2009 was full of lots of joyful moments:<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\"Manassas\"We moved last Spring!\u00c2\u00a0 (Be sure to note our new address.)\u00c2\u00a0 Our new place is a rental townhome, and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s much cozier and more homelike than our old apartment, but much less expensive, so a winner all around.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a longer commute to work, but I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m discovering the joy of audiobooks, so I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mind.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\"TimOnIceRiver\"<\/p>\n

We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve discovered Virginia is beautiful.\u00c2\u00a0 Tim and I had some good times hiking this year at places like Shenandoah National Park, Manassas Battlefield Park, the creek right by our home, and even on a frozen solid creek at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still thoroughly enjoying my job as Youth Services Manager at Herndon Fortnightly Library.\u00c2\u00a0 There\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lots of variety, and I particularly enjoy connecting kids with great books.\u00c2\u00a0 With budget cuts, I may be forced to look for a new job next year, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had at this job.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0Tim is a Sophomore at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, ranked the number one high school in the nation for the third year in a row by US News and World Report.\u00c2\u00a0 He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not terribly talkative (He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a teenager!), but I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m pretty sure he likes going there!\u00c2\u00a0 He admitted to particularly liking his Computer Science class last year, so this year he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s taking AP Computer Science.\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll see if that ends up being the area he specializes in.\u00c2\u00a0 (Seniors have to do a research project.)<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0Josh is living at my parents\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 house in Los Angeles, working for my brothers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 company, writing software that makes graphing calculators easier to use.\u00c2\u00a0 He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s proud of his work on Zoom Algebra 300 and Zoom Chemistry.\u00c2\u00a0 Now the calculators can do Algebra 2 problems, and show the steps, as well as balance chemical equations.\u00c2\u00a0 Check it out at www.zoommath.com<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 On the side, he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s still writing screenplays.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still writing my website of book reviews, www.sonderbooks.com<\/a>, and still enjoying blogging and connecting with old friends on Facebook.\u00c2\u00a0 This Fall, I had several book-related joyful moments: I got to meet my favorite author at the National Book Festival, got to attend a Kidlit Bloggers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Conference, and got to take an online class on the Newbery Medal.<\/p>\n

\"nbf1\"\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

2010 has lots of uncertainty, but I am certain that God will still be looking after us and continuing to provide an abundance of joyful moments.<\/p>\n
