****Wonders and Miracles

A Passover Companion

Illustrated with Art Spanning Three Thousand Years

written and compiled by Eric A. Kimmel

Reviewed March 21, 2004.
Scholastic Press, New York, 2004.  136 pages.

Here’s a beautiful book, made to be a family keepsake, complete with a gold ribbon to mark your place.

Wonders and Miracles explains and elaborates on every part of the Passover celebration.  It includes art from all over the world and going back to medieval times and earlier.  It includes stories from the Scriptures or simply invented.  It gives recipes and traditions and explains in great detail how the Passover is celebrated.

Since Christianity came out of Jewish traditions, and Christians also believe that God led his people out of Egypt, I was very interested in learning about the symbols and traditions of Passover.  It seems a wonderful way to celebrate a holiday of remembrance—with your family around the table at home, and with the children playing important parts.  This would be a magnificent book for a family celebrating Passover, and it’s a fascinating book for someone wanting to learn about Passover and its rich traditions.
