****The Christmas Box Miracle
My Spiritual Journey of Destiny, Healing and Hope
by Richard Paul Evans
Reviewed December 21, 2002.
A Sonderbooks' Best Book of 2002
(#4, Biographical Nonfiction)
Simon & Schuster, New York, 2001. 261 pages.
Here’s an inspiring book for holiday reading. In this
one, best-selling author Richard Paul Evans tells his life story and
the amazing success of his book The Christmas Box, which hit the
New York Times bestseller list when it was still self-published.
Richard Paul Evans’ life is peppered with miracles. He
believes that God touches people’s lives and gives many examples.
He challenges the reader to think about what destiny God has for your
own life, and you come away feeling blessed. I couldn’t put this
book down until I had finished, and by that time I felt inspired, encouraged
and invigorated.
He tells about the writing of The Christmas Box and the
amazing chain of events that led to its hitting the bestseller list.
He also writes about strangers from all over the country whose lives
were touched by the book. He writes about his struggle to be there
for his children. His reaction to sudden riches was a beautiful
contrast from the people in Bringing Down
the House! He used part of the money to fund a foundation
to help abused children. He tries to use the money for good, not only
for his own luxury. An inspiring story, good for Christmas time.
