This is a lovely book. This year at bedtime with my 13-year-old
son, we’ve been reading a poem a night. Some are thought-provoking,
some are funny, and it’s a nice way to spend a quiet moment together finishing
up the day. We’ve almost finished the book of 365 poems that got
us started, and I think that this book would be an excellent one to start
next.
It turns out that the Kennedy family loved poetry, and chose poems
for each other for birthdays and other special occasions. Jacqueline
Kennedy was the driving force behind this, and her daughter has chosen the
favorite poems from her special collection.
The result is a delightful collection of poems, pleasing to the ear
and stimulating to the mind. It gives me a nudge to try to make
poetry a part of my own family life.
