Sonderbooks Stand-out 2005 (#9, Picture Books)

Saxton Freymann and Joost Elffers have outdone themselves!  Food for Thought indeed illustrates shapes, colors, numbers, letters, and opposites, with all the pictures completely made out of food.

When this book came in, I had to show it to everyone else in the library, I found the pictures so life-like and amazing.  We have eggplants as penguins, cauliflower as sheep, a sweet potato as a walrus.  We have owls, giraffes, fish, puppies, turtles, monkeys and pigs, all made entirely from food.  Adding to the fun are the laugh-provoking expressions on each face.  You have to see this book to believe it.
