****Helen Keller

A Determined Life

by Elizabeth MacLeod

Reviewed May 25, 2004.
Kids Can Press, Tonawanda, New York, 2004.  32 pages.
Available at Sembach Library (JB KEL).

When I was a kid, I had a paperback biography of Helen Keller that I loved and read many times.  That book had no pictures except on the cover, so I didn’t have any idea what Helen Keller really looked like.

This book is full of photographs of Helen Keller from many different stages in her life.  The facts are presented, not in dramatized story form as in that biography I loved, but including even more about her work as an adult.  With so many photographs, it’s much easier to visualize what Helen’s life was like.

This is a fascinating book about a remarkable woman.
