****Master Man

by Aaron Shepard

illustrated by David Wisniewski

Reviewed August 19, 2002.
HarperCollins Publishers, 2001.  32 pages.
Available at Sembach Library (E SHE).

Shadusa is so strong, he tells his wife Shettu that from now on, she should call him, “Master Man.”  Shettu warns him about boasting, and sure enough Shadusa gets into trouble when he meets a giant who doesn’t think Shadusa deserves the title.

This book is great fun as a read-aloud.  The comic-like cut-out illustrations by David Wisniewski enhance the story delightfully.  Kids can easily see that Shadusa’s boasting is going to get into trouble.  Tremendous!
