***Gargoyles, Girders and Glass HousesMagnificent Master Buildersby Bo Zaundersillustrated by Roxie Munro
Reviewed February 5, 2005.
Dutton Children’s Books, New York, 2004. 48 pages. Available at Sembach Library (J 720.9 ZAU). Here’s an interesting and informative introduction to some great architects from all over the world. Bo Zaunders tells us about buildings built from the 14th Century to the 20th Century, and about the people whose vision they represented. He covers Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence, Sinan’s mosques in Turkey, the crippled architect of Brazil, the father-son team who built the Brooklyn Bridge, Eiffel and his famous tower, Gaudi and his curvy buildings in Barcelona, and van Alen, architect of the Chrysler building in New York City.
