***Bill Bryson's African Diary

by Bill Bryson

Reviewed February 1, 2003.
Broadway Books, New York, 2002.  49 pages.

I’m a big fan of Bill Bryson’s books, especially the hilariously funny I’m a Stranger Here Myself, where he returns to America after many years in England.

Bill Bryson’s African Diary is a short little book.  All the proceeds go to CARE International.  He tells to story of an eight-day trip he took to Africa, where he visited some of CARE’s projects for helping the people there.

This won’t give you a comprehensive view of Africa, but it will give you a small feel of some of the needs in Kenya, and the good work that CARE is doing.  As always with Bill Bryson’s work, you’ll also get some chuckles along the way.
