This year, I decided not to get a Christmas tree. I don’t quite feel like going to all the trouble of setting one up for just me and few presents. But I did buy a fresh wreath. And it has that wonderful smell — which I love most about Christmas trees anyway.
I realized there are many people to whom I feel free to say, “I need a hug.” — and I will immediately get one or more. (I realized this because it happened Sunday with one such friend.)
What’s more, I attend the sort of church where I’m going to get multiple hugs every Sunday, whether I need them or not. This is a blessing.
I’ve been going too long between posting blessings. I thought I should start posting some little blessings, nice things that I start taking for granted, but that I enjoy every day.
The first is that I have a truly lovely kitchen. Granite countertops and a sleek black stovetop, and right now I’ve got it all to myself. A beautiful kitchen warms this woman’s heart.
