1. I took your Breakout session at the Floris Claim It Retreat. Thank you! Here is the Lament for Our Country that I wrote in your workshop:

   God, are you there? Are you hearing our cries for help and Justice?

   We are told to follow the law.
   We are told to listen to the authorities.
   But God they hurt us.
   They overwhelm us.
   They use weapons against us.
   They hide behind a badge, a mask, a title.
   They say they are on the right side of the law.
   They feel they are protecting the lawful and hunting the law breakers.
   They are led into battle by leaders they trust.
   Leaders who Lie.
   Leaders who are using a lot of money to recruit them.
   Leaders who don’t train them.
   Leaders who put them out in the cold with guns and weapons.
   Leaders who hide and forget and move on.
   Leaders who don’t listen.
   Leaders who have no sense of justice.
   Leaders who only think of themselves.
   Leaders who don’t follow the law.

   God, we’ve seen this before, in history.
   God, we know you are just.
   God, you bring justice.
   God, I know this will end and you will be Just.
   God, I know in the midst of this darkness and hopelessness you are working among and through your people.
   You are feeding the oppressed. You are housing the poor.

   God, please end this.
   God, speak to the leaders and their soldiers and make them stop.
   Lord, bring all your people together and let them rise up in love and peace.
   Lord, bring Justice where we see injustice.
   Keep your people safe.

   I will sign to your strength.
   From the Lord comes deliverance.
   May your blessing be on all the people.
   Those who are unjust will find their way to you, your Holy Spirit will speak to them.

   I will sing the Lord’s praises.
   I will praise you.
   I will praise your name.
   I will give all glory to God.
   All your people will rejoice and will know that your will prevailed.
